FIM EWC Suzuka: BMW Motorrad EWC moves up to second in World Championship

Suzuka. The BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team has taken a significant step forward in the battle for the title in the 2025 FIM Endurance World Championship (FIM EWC). At the third of four rounds in the season, the prestigious Suzuka 8 Hours (JPN), Markus Reiterberger (GER), Steven Odendaal (RSA), and Michael van der Mark (NED) finished fifth aboard the #37 BMW M 1000 RR. As a result, the BMW factory team not only climbed to second place in the championship standings, but now heads into the season finale in September at Le Castellet (FRA) just one point behind leaders YART.  Already during Friday’s qualifying, the speed of the BMW M 1000 RR was evident, and the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team qualified strongly and started the race from fifth place after a very exciting Top 10 Trial on Saturday. Spa-Francorchamps. Round two of the FIM Endurance World Championship (FIM EWC) took place at Spa-Francorchamps (BEL). The BMW M 1000 RR delivered strong results, with the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team securing second place overall. In the Superstock class, the Champion-MRP-Tecmas team claimed pole position and a class victory. At the home race, the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team, led by Team Manager Werner Daemen (BEL) and with riders Markus Reiterberger (GER), Sylvain Guintoli (FRA), and Steven Odendaal (RSA), once again mastered extremely tricky conditions. Le Mans. The 2025 season opener of the FIM Endurance World Championship (FIM EWC) will go down as one of the most dramatic 24-hour races in history. From start to finish, persistent rain during the 24 Hours of Le Mans (FRA) created extremely treacherous conditions. The fastest bike on track at the offical FIM EWC  Le Mans Pré-Test was the #37 BMW M 1000 RR. Familiar names and a strong new addition as the rider lineup for the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team for the 2025 FIM Endurance World Championship (FIM EWC) is set. South African Steven Odendaal will join the regular riders Markus Reiterberger (GER) and Sylvain Guintoli (FRA). Estonian Hannes Soomer will also be ready again as the fourth rider for the 2025 season. 31-year-old Odendaal has been a permanent fixture in the FIM EWC paddock since 2022, making him a true endurance expert. Previously, he was the overall runner-up in the 2021 FIM Supersport World Championship, competed for eight years in the Moto2 World Championship, and won the Moto2 European Championship in 2016.
